Typeface in Development

With nods to Art Nouveau and blackletter scripts, Kanu™ is a modern sans-serif typeface with a human touch. This is a revival design based on calligraphic work by Rudolf von Larisch, the influential Austrian calligrapher and educator of the Jugendstil art movement in the early 20th century.

The development of Kanu started at the Letterform Archive’s introductory three-month course Principles of Typeface Design, under the guidance of Carl Crossgrove. Since then I’ve continued developing it independently.
