On Tuesday we were all hard at work on our designs from the outset. Some of us chose to switch to FontLab, while others continued their design in Illustrator. FontLab was a bit frustrating to use at first, since I am so used to Illustrator’s shortcuts at this point in my career, but with time it became easier (though I still don’t know enough about it probably).

By the end of the day I had maybe finished 25 characters. It wasn’t much, but at least that K looked very nice.

In the afternoon I skipped class for a few hours to take a look around Urbino, and in particular the famous Palazzo Ducale. Inside, they had a great collection of Roman Era typefaces, chiseled into marble stones.

As you can see from the slideshow, we closed the night with a party at one of the student’s house.
